Distribution of immunoreactive Neuropeptide Y in Dog Pancreas

Abstract
The pancreatic tissue in the dog that were pretreated with colchicine was acquired by retrograde perfusion with Zamboni's solution. The tissue was embedded in paraffin. The immunohistochemical techniques applied to the NPY in pancreatic tissue
were
double-bridge peroxidase-antiperoxidase (PAP) and avidin-biotin peroxidase complex (ABC) methods.
@ES The results obtained from this experiment were as follows :
1. Pancreatic parenchyme
NPY-immunoreactive (NPY-IR) cells appeared in both exocrine and endocrine of pancreas. Exocrine NPY-IR cells had more strong reactivity than endocrine cells, and were more abundant near the duct. Endocrine NPY-IR cells were randomly distributed
within
the islet.
2. Pancreatic innervation
NPY-IR nerve fibers were found in less frequently in exocrine: NPY-IR nerve fibers surrounding the part of acinus permeated into the acinus, or terminate into the circumference of exocrine NPY-IR cell. NPY-IR fibers and varicosities belonged
mostly
to
the perivascular and endocrine plexuses.
In the ganglions either of parenchyme or near the duct, NPY-IR cell bodies and nerve fibers were observed.
